“My Peace I Give To You…”

John 14:23-2923

Jesus answered him, “If a man loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. 24 He who does not love me does not keep my words; and the word which you hear is not mine but the Father’s who sent me. 25 “These things I have spoken to you, while I am still with you. 26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all  that I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. 28 You heard me say to you, `I go away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I go to the Father; for the Father is greater than I. 29 And now I have told you before it takes place, so that when it does take place, you may believe.

Lectio Divina Reflection…

What is the Lord personally saying to me?

Immerse yourself in my Word, there you will find the Peace you are looking for… your Sacred Space…  My Peace is with you Always IF you stay close to me in all things.

What does the Lord personally want me to do?

Read the Word daily and meditate on it through out the day.  There I will be at Peace and can then be strong enough to go out into the world with His armor on.

My Prayer…

Give me your Peace, O Lord, as I go about my days. Your Peace, “The Peace of Christ” is all that I need…

"Peace of Christ..."

My prayer is that you enjoy my images and Give Glory 2 God.

The New Commandment

31 When he had gone out, Jesus said, “Now is the Son of man glorified, and in him God is glorified; 32 if God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and glorify him at once.

33 Little children, yet a little while I am with you. You will seek me; and as I said to the Jews so now I say to you, ‘Where I am going you cannot come.’

34 A new commandment I give to you, that you Love one another; even as I have loved you, so you also should Love one another. 35 By this all men will know that you are my disciples, IF you have Love for one another.” ~ John 13:31–35

Lectio Divina Reflection…

What is the Lord personally saying to me?

To glorify God by loving one another! If you are my disciples you must give others the Love that was given to you.

What does the Lord personally want me to do?

To glorify God by loving others, especially those most hard to Love and even if they continue in their dysfunctional behavior.
“God Loves us where we are but he Loves us too much for us to stay there.”

My Prayer…

Help me, Lord to be mature in my love for others and to be merciful because you have been so merciful to me!

Continued Easter blessings, Sharon

Catholic Treasure Box

Beautiful things of the Catholic Faith that can Not be Found in Any Other church.

I’m a convert!

And as such I truly realize the Treasure of our Catholic faith. As a child, I attended many different churches; Methodist, Lutheran, Baptist, even Mormon.

One day, after becoming Catholic, the Holy Spirit gave me this idea as a teaching aid for CCD classes.  My Faith is like a Treasure!  I went in search of a Treasure box and found this one at a local antique store.  What a Find!  I couldn’t believe it…

And so I began gathering items to put into my Treasure Box;  Blessed Palm Leaves, Holy Water, Blessed Oil, a Crucifix, Holy Cards about the Saints, all the Sacraments (images printed onto cards), Holy Medals, Incense, and of course a Rosary.  Over time, it has grown to include all the items you now see in this photo.

I soon realized that not only are these the beautiful things of the Catholic faith but they are things that you can Not Find in Any Other Faith/Church.  This made my Catholic Treasure Box even more special to me and a better teaching aid especially to older students.

Now as my children are grown and moving away to college, I have decided to make one for each of them.  I figure if they truly want to leave behind this Beautiful Treasure of the Catholic Faith, they will have to physically remove this Treasure Box from their presence.  If you find our Catholic Faith a Treasure, I encourage you to do the same.

Blessings,

Sharon

Meditation: What do you most treasure? In a peasant community the best safe was often the earth.  The man in the parable “went in his joy” to sell everything. Why?  Because he found a treasure worth possessing above all else he had… rc.net http://www.rc.net/wcc/readings/matt1344.htm

Meditation: What do you treasure and seek after the most? What do you value above all else? Jesus offers a treasure of incomparable value and worth, but we need healthy eyes – good spiritual vision – to recognize what is the greatest treasure we can possess. What Jesus said about seeking treasure made perfect sense to his audience: keep what lasts! Aren’t we all trying to find something we treasure in this life in the hope that it will bring us happiness, peace, and security?… rc.net http://www.rc.net/wcc/readings/jun17.htm

“The Annunciation of the Lord”

I created this college in honor of today’s Feast Day… “The Annunciation of the Lord”

The Annunciation is, “the Christian celebration of the announcement by the angel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary that she would conceive and become the mother of Jesus, the Son of God…” ~https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Annunciation

It is a little late this year because March 25th (9 months until Dec. 25th, “The Birth of our Lord”) fell on Good Friday which meant that we would be celebrating Jesus’s conception and death on the same day, therefore, it was transferred to the first day after the Easter Octave.

It’s also my favorite Feast day because it is the day that I came into the Catholic Church. One of the main reasons I became interested in religion is because of the many hours of art history classes studying religious artwork in college. The Annunciation images in particular called me to Jesus through Mary. After college, I completed the RCIA program and was Baptized and Confirmed at the Easter Vigil, which fell on, March 25th, that year, the Feast of the Annunciation!!!

Also, many of Fra Angelico’s pieces were part of my main conversion and he is the patron saint of Artist.

So, thank you, Mother Mary… Queen of Heaven & Earth, continue to lead me to your son, Jesus and Fra Angelico, pray for us artist that through our art we may direct others to God like you.

Easter blessings,

Sharon

Abortion and The Year of Mercy

Then Jesus stood up and said to the woman, “Where are your accusers?  Didn’t even one of them condemn you?” “No, Lord,” she said. And Jesus said, “Neither do I. Now Go and sin no more.” ~ John 8: 10-11

This year, Pope Francis has declared a Jubilee year, called, “The Year of Mercy.” It focuses on offering special indulgences to those who seek its graces.  There are many groups of people that he wishes to address and one such group are the men and women who have participated in the act of abortion.

The pope wants to extend forgiveness and absolution to those who are truly sorry.  There are many who now realize what they have done was wrong, but don’t know what to do with this guilt and shame.

So, if you haven’t already, please prayerful consider taking advantage of this beautiful grace and turn to the Lord in the Sacrament of Confession.  Ask for absolution of this sin of abortion and be free of the burdens it brings.

Below is a section from Pope Francis’ Jubilee Letter concerning Abortion and the Year of Mercy. May it bring you peace and consolation that can free your soul.

“…I think in particular of all the women who have resorted to abortion. I am well aware of the pressure that has led them to this decision. I know that it is an existential and moral ordeal. I have met so many women who bear in their heart the scar of this agonizing and painful decision. What has happened is profoundly unjust; yet only understanding the truth of it can enable one not to lose hope. The forgiveness of God cannot be denied to one who has repented, especially when that person approaches the Sacrament of Confession with a sincere heart in order to obtain reconciliation with the Father.”  – Pope Francis, Sept. 1, 2015

“Artists of the world, may your many different paths all lead to that infinite Ocean of beauty where wonder becomes awe, exhilaration, unspeakable joy. May you be guided and inspired by the mystery of the Risen Christ, whom the Church in these days contemplates with joy. …may your art help to affirm that true beauty which, as a glimmer of the Spirit of God, will transfigure matter, opening the human soul to the sense of the eternal.” ~ Saint Pope John Paul II

“Follow the Son”

I have always loved being out in nature and I truly adore every aspect of God’s Creation ~ waterscapes, landscapes, sunrises and sunsets. And like a Sunflower & as a Christian “Photographer”, my goal is to “Follow the Son” & hopefully encourage others to do the same…

I’ve started this blog to share with others my love of nature, most especially that God puts on a glorious new light show each evening and I really hate to miss even one.  My prayer is that you will enjoy my captures of nature and Give Glory to God in all the beauty He creates and surrounds us.
